Uber hides major cyber attack in 2016.
Last year the company reportedly paid hackers $100,000 to delete stolen data and conceal the fact that 57 million users’ personal details including names, emails, and phone numbers had been exposed. The license details more than 600,000 drivers were also compromised in the 2016 breach, as admitted by the company. Both Uber’s chief security officer Joe Sullivan and his deputy have been fired. “None of this should have happened, and I will not make excuses for it,” said recently installed CEO Dara Khosrowshahi.

 

The FEDs to sue to block AT&T/Time Warner Merger.
The Justice Department filed a lawsuit against AT&T this past Monday to prevent it from acquiring Time Warner for $85 billion. The department is arguing the mega-merger would harm consumers by raising prices, among other effects. The DOJ recently demanded CNN, a Time Warner network President Trump has publicly bashed, be sold before the merger could be approved.

 

 

Special Counsel Robert Mueller investigates the firing of James Comey.
The special counsel Robert Mueller is investigating Russian interference in the 2016 election and possible collusion with the Trump campaign asked the Department of Justice to hand over all documents related to the firing of James Comey. This is the first time Mueller has formally requested records from the department and strongly suggests Mueller is probing possible obstruction of justice on part of the White House.
